Caffa was the first Foxes player to be up for the award, earning the nomination after leading Fresno FC to an undefeated record last month (2 wins, 2 draws).
His performance in Fresno FC's inaugural year is making him a strong prospect for the USL's Most Valuable Player of the Year. Caffa's 50 chances created thus far are fifth-most in the entire USL and he has recorded seven goals and three assists in 21 appearances for the Foxes, even after sitting out most of May with an ankle injury.
Caffa also leads the club with three USL Team of the Week selections and has been named El Mexicano's Man of the Match four times in 2018.
Three of those goals and two assists came in July, during which he helped the Foxes in their push for the USL Cup Playoffs. Fresno (7W-8L-9D, 30 points) currently sits in 10th place in the Western Conference, just below the playoff line behind Swope Park Rangers (8th, 9W-8L-6D 33 pts) and Colorado Springs (9th, 9-12-4 31 pts). The top eight teams in each conference qualify for the postseason.
Fresno plays next at LA Galaxy II (14th, 5-12-5) on Thursday, Aug. 9 at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium. The Foxes return to Chukchansi Park the following weekend, playing host to Saint Louis FC on Saturday, Aug. 18. Tickets are available at the stadium box office and tickets.fresnofc.com.
