DAVIS - Fresno FC closed its preseason Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over 2017 Regular Season title winners Real Monarchs SLC at Aggie Soccer Field at UC Davis with Terran Campbell's goal in the 89th minute proving to be the difference between the sides. The Utah club opened the scoring through midfielder Josh Heard, who set himself up nicely to finish into the side netting of the Fresno FC goal. Jemal Johnson equalized for the Foxes in the 40th minute, heading home from a Juan Pablo Caffa corner, taking both sides level into the half at 1-1.
Chandler Hoffman reclaimed the lead for Real Monarchs SLC in the 53rd minute, tapping home after Maikel Chang's effort from distance was parried in front of the Zorros goal. However, Fresno FC's Renato Bustamante continued his fine form in preseason, beating Real GK Andrew Putna with a curled effort to level the match at 2-2 in the 77th minute. The Foxes found the winner in the game’s final minute when Terran Campbell found the back of net through a left-footed half-volley, hitting the top corner of the goal and in.
