Fresno FC announces fall campaign to 'Stand Up' against cancer

By Fresno FC, 09/12/19, 2:00PM PDT

Fans are invited to participate in the 'Stand Up To Cancer' now through Oct. 12

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Football Club, Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), and the Andrea Andrade Foundation announced today that they are teaming up to score against the biggest opponent of all: cancer, with an awareness campaign that will culminate on the Foxes’ final home game of the season.

The SU2C campaign will feature Foxes’ players alongside the real-life MVPs of the cancer community. The three organizations are collaborating to raise awareness for those affected by cancer, with the ultimate goal of helping all patients become survivors.

The campaign will kick off over the next month, as players, coaches, fans and friends will “Stand Up” for their loved ones affected by cancer, showcasing a Fresno FC and SU2C placard using the hashtag #SU2CFresno. The campaign will score big at halftime during the Foxes’ final home match of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 12. At that moment, the entire stadium will Stand Up To Cancer with placard in hand to score one for all the fighters against cancer – those we have lost, those who have won, and those continuing the battle every day.

Moments like this one have been held during the MLB World Series and All-Star Game and will come to professional soccer for the first time here in Fresno. Individuals will write the name of a loved one on these placards and then stand up for everyone to see. The match will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+ and locally on CW59.

The team effort is the first of its kind in the San Joaquin Valley, creating a communal bond through the beautiful game, inspired by the fighting spirits of survivors and patients. Fresno FC will donate a portion of the proceeds from the event towards cancer research through SU2C. Additionally, Fresno FC will donate 1,000 tickets to Community Cancer Institute for the Oct. 12 match inviting staff, patients and families to Stand Up To Cancer together. The Foxes also are collaborating with The Andrea Andrade Foundation to donate wigs to 10 cancer patients.

Fans are encouraged to support the campaign by using #SU2CFresno on social media and can pick up a placard at the Fresno FC Team Store or the Chukchansi Park Box Office.

To further raise awareness and donations for cancer research, Fresno FC will be selling special-edition, customizable adidas Stand Up To Cancer jerseys at and in the team shops beginning Oct. 1.

Fans can print-at-home the Fresno FC/Stand Up To Cancer placard pictured below, or pick up their own the Fresno FC Front Office & Team Store, as well as the Chukchansi Park Box Office during normal business hours. Everyone is encouraged to share their photos and videos using the hashtag #SU2CFresno.
