July was a record month for Fresno FC, which saw the club win its 10th game of the season for the first time in franchise-history, match a club-best winning streak of five games, grab its first-ever Highway 99 Derby win at Papa Murphy's Park, and much more. Helping lead the way are a strong list of candidates for the July Player of the Month, brought to you by El Mexicano.
The acrobatic shot-stopper made 16 saves last month and only let in three goals for a 0.75 goals-against average. His stellar July started with a clean sheet in the club's first-ever win at Sacramento Republic FC, and he followed it up with a seven-save performance against New Mexico that also earned him his third USL Team of the Week selection of 2019.
One of two backline bullies for Los Zorros, Daly scored his first goal in the San Joaquin Navy on his corner-kick header in what ended up being the game-winner over New Mexico. In addition to his offensive production, Daly had eight clearances, two tackles, six interceptions, and three blocks to help Fresno to a 3-1-0 record in July.
Fresno's other backline bully, Del Campo also scored his first goal for Fresno FC last month, a diving header in the sixth minute that sparked Los Zorros to a 2-1 win over Portland Timbers 2 on July 20th. Defensively, he finished the month with two tackles, 11 clearances, seven interceptions, and two blocks.
The midfield general has hit his stride in the middle of the summer, playing every minute of every match in July. There's a reason for that. His passing accuracy and distribution was the best on the club in July, completing 85% of all his passes, including a 90%-night against New Mexico. Kurimoto also made a club-high six tackles at Sacramento to finish the month with 14 overall. He also recorded six clearances and seven interceptions.
Voting for El Mexicano Player of the Month for July closes on Sunday, August 4th at 11:59 a.m. PT.
